Access Control System

Pentagon Automation Concepts offers integrated & standalone Access Control System Solution for unmanned control of movement of employees & visitors. Access Control System consists of card readers, door locks, cards & controller. A variety of card reader technologies are supported which provide the flexibility to tailor the system to users security needs. Card reader technologies include Magnetic Strip, Weygand, proximity & Biometric (like finger scan, face recognition & hand geometry etc.

Access control is a system which enables you to control authority of who has access to certain areas to your building. The access control system will automatically lock all the doors controlled by the system, once the system has been installed. Only people with a PIN or token will be able to enter through controlled doors within the access control system.

There are two main types of access control systems, which have different features and benefits suited for different organizations.

Standalone Access Control

Fingerprint Identification Access Controller

Proximity Access Controller

PIN & Proximity Single Door Access Controller

PINPAD Single Door Access Controller

A stand alone system may be used for controlling access on one or many individual doors in a building. People can gain access of these doors by using a numeric code, a PIN with a keypad, biometric reader or by presenting a proximity or magstripe token. This will depend on which type of reader has been fitted.

Each door will have a programmed system to enable the door to be controlled by the access control system. Some systems such as Paxton have easy to use programming tokens to ensure the individual in charge of controlling the manual database has a simple task when issuing and barring fobs.

Online Access Control

Online Access Control is sometimes known as PC Based Access Control or Networked Access Control. One or many doors within a building can be controlled by this type of access control system. People can gain access of these doors by using a numeric code, a PIN with a keypad, by presenting a proximity or magstripe token, a hands free token or by using biometrics. This will depend on which type of reader has been fitted

This type of system can generate reports to see which individuals went where within the building, and also reports the time these events happened. Additional buildings can be controlled by this type of system via an existing LAN/WAN. Other services within buildings, for example fire doors, are increasingly being controlled by networked systems.

Reader

A reader is an electronic component of a physical access control system. Usually a self-contained unit, the is an autonomous device that performs the single purpose of interfacing to a card and providing an output to an access control panel. The core is encapsualted in a potting material to protect the reader electronics from the environment and vandalism.
There are some diffrent readers available in access control like Proximity Reader, Magstripe Reader, Biometrics Reader and Coded Lock Reader

Credentials

A card (or transponder) is a passive electronic device that relies on a reader to provide the necessary power for start-up and communication. The card consists of one or several application-specific integrated circuits each of them connected to a multi-turn antenna, that when combined, creates the 125 KHz or 13.56 MHz resonant frequency. The card can also be manufactured with unique data for the purpose of anti-collision, as well as the personalized cardholder data for physical access control.
There are some diffrent Credentials available in access control like Cards, Fobs, Hands Free Tokens and keypad button.

Perimeters

Keep access points to a minimum and make sure the boundary between public and private areas of your building is secure and clearly signed. Invest in good quality access controls such as magnetic swipe identification cards or 'proximity' cards which are readable from a short distance.
Equipment can be categorized into several different groups:
1. Entry/Exit Devices :Pushbuttons/ Key-switches, Keypads, Card Readers, Voice Communication, Sensors/Probes, Radio Transmitters/Receivers, Automobile Tags, Mag locks/Electric strikes.
2. Gate/Door Operators :Slide Gate Operators, Swing Gate Operators, Actuators, Barrier Arms, Vertical Pivots, Overhead Door Operators.
3. Safety Devices : Loop Detectors/Sensors, Photo Cells/Beams, Safety Edges.

Locking Devices

There are 5 important types of access control locks which can be used in all places. These locks are mostly electrical devices which can be connected to many other devices like computers etc. easily.
1. Door Locks - The door locks are the primary type of access control devices used for security purposes. These door locks can be used in houses and also in offices. They use keypad locking/unlocking system to operate.
2. Fingerprint Locks – These access control devices will make use of finger prints for locking and unlocking. The can be connected to electricity to operate. These locks are mostly used in offices to control access in certain rooms and halls.
3. Card Readers – Card readers are also a type of lock system in access control. These card readers are used for limiting the access in certain areas. Bar code reader which is a type of access control card reader does not fall under the access control locks category.
4. Gate Automation - The gate automation system is used to operate the gates and main entrances of big houses and also in offices. Using access control gate automation system is a growing trend in India.
5. Electronic Locks – This type of access control system has 2 sub-types:
* Electromagnetic locks: which can be mounted on the doors to restrict the invalid entries. When this access control device is powered, the magnet will be charged and disable the operations of the entry doors.
* Electric strikes: which are similar to the latches in the door panel. These latches can be enabled and disabled using electric power.

Access Control Software

The software used in access control systems are designed to feel familiar to any Windows user. Access control privileges and reports on users are some of the features that the access control software offer. Different permission levels are available to select to restrict access to certain areas.
A login and password must be entered to be able to use the software to manage the access control. Access control software is designed to be intuitive to use and all but the most complex functions can be performed easily and without training.
Access S/W provides features like: Employee Master Maintenance, Time frame adjustments, Alarm Functioning, Password Control, I/O control, Anti Pass Back.

Integration with CCTV

We believe that access control system provide more protection when integrated with CCTV. Operators can verify persons that are authorised to enter a secure area, which will provide a greater level of security for your business property and assets. Real-time images or access control methods such as proximity cards are ways in which users can be granted access through secured doors.
Alarmed doors can be linked to the access control system with a camera viewing the door so that in the event of an alarm being activated the access control will store the alarm and the image of the person that caused the alarm will be displayed automatically on the screen providing seamless integration.
